As part of our ongoing commitment to patients, Biogen Idec provides a variety of support services for patients and caregivers. These world-class services are thoughtfully crafted around the informational, emotional, financial and logistical needs that come with living with the diseases our products treat.

Our Patient Service organization includes operations in Wellesley, MA, and Research Triangle Park, NC.

Annually, we handle more than 800,000 calls through our call center, where patients are encouraged to contact us about their illnesses, treatments and living with their diseases. Our highly-trained specialists can help patients currently taking or considering AVONEX^® (interferon beta-1a), TYSABRI (natalizumab) and other Biogen Idec therapies. Biogen Idec Support Specialists offer patients prescribed our products unlimited personal phone counseling and periodic, scheduled follow-up calls as needed. Patients receive one-on-one support including:

• Insurance coverage research and verification
• Obtaining financial assistance
• Treatment initiation support and training
• Understanding of the ongoing challenge of living with their disease
• Therapy management counseling
• Drug delivery services
• General MS information

Biogen Idec's comprehensive suite of services for patients also includes:

• Nurse visits to patients for home injection training and one-to-one assistance
• 24/7 nurse hotline
• "Living Well with MS" seminar series led by local physicians, nurses and health professionals
• MS ActiveSource (see below)
• A mentoring program, in which a newly diagnosed patient is teamed with a "veteran" MS patient for support and assistance
• Peer-to-peer interactions: teleconferences with other patients living with your disease

Finally, last year, we provided more than $140 million in free and discounted drugs to patients in need.
