The Engineering department is a global cross-site function that provides the capability to execute large capital engineering projects and also encompasses the day-to-day engineering and small projects activities at Biogen Idec’s sites. The department has received industry recognition in the past for it’s exceptional design, innovative modular construction methods, efficient delivery and strong safety record.
The Engineering group comprises Global Engineering Systems, Global Engineering Technology / Validation, and the site-based Engineering groups.
Global Engineering provides the resource and expertise to execute and manage new capital projects. These projects involve the conceptualization, design, engineering, construction and validation based on requirements defined. The creation of Biogen Idec’s new European Headquarters at Hillerød in Denmark and the Building 6A Extension on the Cambridge Campus are amongst the most recent projects for Global Engineering department.
In addition, we work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, and Facility Services collectively to provide and maintain facilities and manufacturing operations with the infrastructure / equipment required to support Biogen Idec’s growth, profitability and workplace environment.Our commitment to safety is paramount and is borne out by our excellent safety record not only during the design through construction phases of a project, but also during the commissioning, validation and subsequent operation of the equipment or facility.
