Description
Responsible for managing the maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, or electrical servicing to the facility. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
This position will also remain actively involved and partnered with other business units regarding project management, event coordination, process improvement and campus aesthetics.
Plans, directs and coordinates activities concerned with the operation, maintenance and construction of buildings and grounds. Coordinates activities of personnel involved in repair and maintenance of facilities, buildings and equipment to minimize interruption and improve efficiency. Inspects facilities or reviews inspection reports to determine repairs, replacements, or improvements required. May prepare construction specifications or plans, obtaining advice from engineering consultants, assemble and analyze contract bids, and submit bids and recommendations to management for action.
Ensuring simultaneous maintenance projects are completed on time and to the company’s satisfaction.
Oversee an operating budget Communicates directly with contractors concerning project costs and scheduling.
Controlling expenditures on an approved budget.
Participate in the planning, development, engineering and construction of new facilities, renovations and infrastructure projects.
Manage the preparation of specifications (such as quantity, quality and service) required for purchasing equipment, supplies and materials.
Manage the performance of outside contractors to ensure successful completion of projects.

Qualifications
7+ to 10 years managerial/supervisory experience in the facilities management field, preferably in a Laboratory/Manufacturing setting.
In-depth knowledge of trade skills (carpentry, mechanical, electrical); strong organizational and verbal communication skills required. Practical knowledge of building construction and maintenance.
A minimum of 7 years prior experience managing facilities/site services for facilities equaling more than 600,000 sq. ft.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service, managerial, communication, and technical skillsAbility to negotiate with and manage external vendors and contractors.
Creative skills and practical knowledge of building space planning.
Education
Prefer college or university degree, or related experience in an engineering or business area of a Bio-Pharmaceutical company.
