A question that is asked by all, including the young and the old is how to live a healthy and fruitful life. While most of us know a few pointers here and there, most of us have insufficient knowledge on what makes up a healthy life. We may know what to do for a healthy life but we are not adept at defining what healthy means. By modern day medical definition, the word healthy should point to the fact that the human being is devoid of any medical conditions and that he or she is able to complete all assigned tasks on a daily basis, without mental or physical exertion beyond one’s capacity.
This definition is quite broad and yet does not encompass the fact that healthy life requires some precautionary measures and some remedial measures too. Among the precautionary measures, diet control, avoiding harmful habits or vices of life and regular exercise take the highest precedence while among remedial measures, taking regular vitamin supplements, washing hands, regular bathing and similar actions take precedence. Together, these actions ensure that one remains hale and hearty throughout life.
Some of the latest additions to the two lists include going in for annual checkups that also include Eye and ear checkups, getting a gene sequencing done, so as to point out possible diseases that one is likely to catch. These new additions further increase the chance of living life fruitfully till the end. Even though most of these methods are well known to us, we choose to stay ignorant of the harmful side effects of our actions or rather our inaction.
